Yes, mark March 12 — 16 in your diaries as Book Week for the primary school. (Those of you in middle school will just get peripheral benefits when you visit us, though we also hope you will volunteer for some shared reading activities with our students that week.)

The theme is “Reading is Enlightening” and right after the half-term break you’ll start to hear more about it. Meanwhile, let me tell you some of the events planned.
- D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read) time on a daily basis
- Book Character Dress-up Day on the Tuesday, where the best efforts in each class will be photographed for a later library display
- Book Fair, organized by Bookaburra Books, in the RBT Foyer/Reception Area
- Julia Donaldson, British author of the best-selling picture book “The Gruffalo”, will be visiting K1 and K2 students
- Ian Whybrow, British author of the popular “Little Wolf’s Book of Badness” and the “Books for Boys” series, will be visiting with students in Grades 1, 2, and 3
- Special storytellers are also being arranged for students in Grades 4 and 5
- Guest readers in classrooms and shared reading between classes (to be arranged by individual teachers/classrooms)
- Support for the global concern Asian Literacy — through book donations and pledges to buy new books
- Quizzes and contests in the library every break and lunchtime
- Reading initiatives in each pod and classroom
- Lots of new library books to read
- Plus more!
So watch this space…

Hi Katie,
The Book Week sounds great! If you are looking for more ideas, I have a great resource for activities to do during Book Week.
